To couples considering marriage,
I am a Presbyterian minister
and a Marriage and Family Therapist, and as I have done in the past, I am
pleased to offer to you my quarterly Premarital Seminar, four Sunday afternoons
(3-5 pm) on April 11, 18, 25 and May 2, 2010. The course will be taught from a
Christian perspective, with videotapes by Norman Wright, Dennis Rainey, and many
other famous authors on marriage. We will cover issues of: communication,
conflict resolution, finances and the Christian marriage. I will be giving
additional lectures on conflict resolution and the Christian marriage as well as
leading group discussions.
Each person will receive a workbook relating to both individual and couple's
issues in marriage. I will administer the Prepare/ Enrich Premarital Inventory
to assess couples' compatibility in relation to the questions, and will schedule
an individual session for each couple to go over the results of the testing.
This has been a very helpful course for many couples, both before and after
marriage, and I would like to make it available as widely as possible in the
Central Savannah River Area.
We were previously located in North Augusta at First Baptist Church. However,
our home office has moved to Georgia. The classes will be held at Marvin United
Methodist Church, 4400 Wheeler Road in Martinez in the Center for Care and
Counseling's new offices located on the second floor of the Family Life
Building. The cost for the entire (9 hour) series, including seminars, testing,
workbooks and couples' testing and a private feedback session will be $150 per
couple. (For couples in Georgia, this will qualify them for a reduction in their
marriage license. Couples in South Carolina will receive a tax credit.)
Registration is limited to fifteen (15) couples, so register early. Payment is
due in full on or before the first class. Checks should be made payable to John
Hill. To register, please call 706-305-3137 and speak to my Administrative
Assistant, Susan Harbin, or myself. We will be glad to answer any questions you
may have about the series.ual session for each couple to go over the results of
the testing. This has been a very helpful course for many couples, both before
and after marriage, and I would like to make it available as widely as possible
in the Central Savannah River Area.
